Will Work For Food: Don't Believe Me? Check My Blog at HomelessGuyOnTheCornerOfFifthStreetAndMain.blogspot.com.
My only problem has been that I didn't think I had anything to write that anyone would want to read. My married siblings have blogs in which they post pictures and blips about current events in their own particular tribes and therefore use their blogs as a way to keep the other branches in the family tree posted and up-to-date. Consequently, I, having no tribe of my own, have had no need to keep a family blog. To date, I have spawned no offspring and the only pictures I could post would be of myself, which no one in his or her right frame of mind would take time out of a busy day to view. It occurred to me once that I might keep a poetry blog as some of my friends have (yes, I write poetry; don't judge), but then I went against that idea, thinking that should anyone decide to read my blog, well, he or she might be turned off by figurative or poetic language, some of which I dislike myself (Note: I am referring to those who write love poetry and romantic sonnets. Bleck.). I have heard of other people keeping recipe blogs. That might have been a possibility for me, I think, except I am not sure I would blend in with the housewives and homewakers who are able to post a recipe for every day of the week and two for extra-special occasions. Besides, when I cook, I usually make things up as I go, sort of like the way I write.
So what changed my mind about authoring a blog? Hmmm....Let me think about that. (Note: Saying I have to think about it is only a intentional rhetorical device. If you must know, I've already thought about it)
I can sum up the reason why in two tiny aphorisms: 1) Know me, and 2) know thyself (Note: Yes, I did steal the second one from the Greek philosophers, but it works in this instance all the same). Let me explain.
The other day I was reading a book by Albert Camus, a French writer, which consisted of everything he wrote down in his private notebooks from 1951 to 1959. Some might not consider such a varied collection of scribbled notes and ideas a great work of literature; I'm not sure I would, either. However, the significance of the collection really stems from observing the thought processes of this man, one of the greatest writers of 20th century and a Nobel Prize winner in 1957, for the book does not pretend to tell us about the world; rather, it tells us how one great man saw the world. Consequently, I hope the same may hold true with the things I write. I do not wish to be didactic; this is only a peek into what I think and feel and see. You may agree; you may not. But that is hardly the point.
Also, perhaps you will find something here that you can relate to or connect with or appreciate. Often, those we associate with allow us to see in ourselves things we might not otherwise have seen. It will not be deliberately didactic, but perhaps it will be instructive.
As a side note, I do from time to time, as has been hinted previously, write a little bit of what some might refer to as poetry, and such poetry may from time to time end up in this blog (Note: If you are allergic to poetry in any way, please feel free to skip this next part). Here's a little tidbit I composed just for this entry.
The Rorschachian blots fall from cerebral chaos,
Jumping over synapses and flowing
Through metacarpal cosmos
To ask questions of themselves;
But the tympanic symphony resounds
Within an eavesdropping ear
And stains the searching hand
If it dips a finger in my arterial ink.
Will it come off? Scrub and see,
But leave a fingerprint or two
On the living room drapes before you wash.
So, this blog will include whatever I want it to include: stories, biographical and fictional; poetry; reminiscences; and anything else I feel the desire to include. Enjoy.

Way to go, Jeff! I love it!
